Lot Details

Mid-century 5 piece studio potted pitcher and beaker service. Featuring a period “harlequin” decoration to the jug in highly glazed enamel like tones set against a matte dragged brown background. Matching four beakers featuring a guitar to each in similar enamelled finish. Glazed black interiors with the whole set presenting in typical mid century angular form. No studio stamp though clearly influenced by the works of artists such as Roger Capron and Pablo Picasso at that time. Probably of Italian origins though could also be a French service from Vallauris. The pitcher is a striking piece of large proportions measuring 260mm tall by 210mm wide handle to spout. The four beakers measure 120mm tall apiece. All offered in excellent vintage order with some glaze anomalies but no damage. Circa mid century.
