This Sunday Hayward’s Auction House are holding one of popular Vintage, Antique & Collectable Auctions, and as usual we’ve got a great range of interesting and unusual items going under the hammer. This auction will be a live webcast auction which means bidders can bid online or they can come into the rooms to bid.
Due to Covid 19 Alert Level 2 restrictions, people who are attending the auction will have to practice social distancing and we may have to limit entry into the rooms, to ensure that we conduct the auction within Minstry of Health guidlines. Customers will be able to preview the items in our rooms as usual, provided that they fill in their details in our Covid register or use the COVID 19 tracer app. You will be able to place bids on items that you are interested in from 9:00am Wednesday 3rd of September, with the auction starting 10:00am on Sunday 6th of September.
If you have any issues with usernames or logins or any other questions about the online auction process, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
What is in this Auction?
You’ll find a wonderful range of vintage collectables and antiques in this auction, from replica swords, rifles and pistols to a great variety of fine china and ornaments. We’ve got Chinese bowls, vases, carved figurines, a bamboo brush pot and a Hor Chung pewter and pottery tea set with matching tray. Crown Lynn swans, British porcelain display plates, art glass and pottery, a marble moai head and some retro German and Hanmer pottery. If you’re into vintage cars, we’ve got hood ornaments, car badges and trim, a restorer’s pedal car and 1930s clockwork roadster.
Furniture includes a compact 3-piece deep-button leather lounge suite, a twin pedestal barrel-top desk, a player piano, two “Early Settlers” bookshelves and other solid timber shelves, bedroom furniture and display cabinets. We have several mahogany dining tables with chairs - one with 2 leaves and heavy ornate legs on brass casters, and one with a pedestal base with carved columns and sides. There’s a Scotch chest with cotton reel pilasters, dressing table mirrors, hall tables, occasional chairs, armchairs, and a 3-piece Bergere lounge suite.
For the walls, we have ornate wall barometers, wood-framed mirrors, a hand-painted tile picture, a colour lithograph of Lord Kitchener of Khartoum, and a great selection of other prints and paintings. Check the tabletops and jewellery cabinets for sports memorabilia, vintage postcards, an Imperial typewriter, vintage fishing reels, jewellery and watches, and keep an eye out for the vintage dresses, furs, reproduction Tiffany and nouveau style lamps, model motorbikes, a Rolleiflex camera, even a taxidermy toad. And if you missed out on the player piano in last month’s auction, you’ve got another chance this time, with lots of piano rolls to go with it.
