Hayward’s Auction House has prepared another of our popular online Vintage, Antique and Collectable auctions, and we are now open for viewing. Fine china collectors will find a lot to love in this auction from Royal Doulton Gnomes and other series ware to Moorcroft vases, Beswick Clydesdale horse and mallard duck, and other animal figures, majolica and amphora vases, a Royal Winton Maoriland plate, a Crown Staffordshire floral and bird figure, and a nice assortment of Royal Albert, Carlton ware, Branksome, Temuka, a fine pair of NZ Railways cups and saucers, a large lot of Royal Stafford Dunedin Town Hall pictorial dinner and teaware, and much more.

This auction also features a stylish 1920s French pull-out divan bed – it’s in need of new upholstery, but the mechanism is in fine working order. Other furniture includes a Victorian mahogany secretaire with flame veneer drawer fronts and fitted interior, a mixed timber veneer top dining table with bergère-back chairs, oval pedestal loo tables, carved, inlaid and glass-topped occasional, side and coffee tables and sideboards. There’s a nice deep-button gold velvet upholstered settee and other comfortable fabric and leather-upholstered settees and chairs.

Wrought iron gates and outdoor chairs, concrete garden planters, statues, and sundials, vintage fishing rods, retro lamps and figurines, a pair of 7-point stag antlers, and a fibreglass leaping trout, a vintage metal filing cabinet. cuckoo, mantel and pendulum wall clocks, a wind-up portable gramophone. And something for the local railway buffs – a large number of engineering plans,  blueprints and original technical drawings from the Hillside workshops.

Books include local and New Zealand art, history and travel books, with titles from Thomas Bracken and Lady Barker, Victorian novels, 2 signed Margaret Atwood novels, and a large assortment of vintage geological and paleontological publications.

Carved, briar and other walking sticks, some with brass animal head handles, and other interesting brassware includes mountain lion, horse, elephant and other figures and deco wall and table lamps. We have heavy art glass figures and vases, genie bottles, studio pottery items, vintage toiletry bottles, marble bottles, green glass carboys, a very nice pair of bronze hound dogs and a small bronze mother and child sculpture, artist unknown.

You’ll also find a slope-front butler’s serving trolley with removable trays, freestanding dressing mirrors, solid wood chests of drawers, wardrobes, a large and intricately carved mahogany bed frame, standard lamps, and a lovely assortment of other Victorian, Edwardian and more modern dining, lounge and bedroom furniture. There are two very nice fabric-lined and fitted small sewing cabinets – a portable folding one, and one on legs.

The jewellery cabinets feature a large number of pocket watches and fob chains, sterling silver items, two gold full sovereigns, semi-precious stone and other jewellery and lots of interesting small collectibles – cast metal soldiers, brass Hohner harmonica ‘horn’ accessory, a cast metal bear coin bank. There’s a lovely set of vintage lawn bowls in wooden carrier, fur and leather jackets, hats, a cowhide floor rug – far too many great items to list here, so please come in for a browse around and check out the catalog descriptions and photos on our website.
